The process by which Ms. Warren creates and completes an original watercolour is an involved one.  Her clients often visit to look at photos of her previous work, review or supply supporting material, and view see some of her concept studies.

Because of the exacting nature of Ms. Warren's technique, each painting typically takes about 3 months from the first pencil lines to the final brush stroke and signature.

She first sketches the entire piece full-sized in pencil.  Then she works the pencil image extensively to capture just the right posture, the communicative tilt of the head, and the captivating eyes.  It is during this phase that she also makes sure that there are no perspective, anatomic or scaling errors.

"Afterall, a painting is only as good as its weakest point," Ms. Warren points out.

When satisfied with the complete pencil rendering, she outlines all the important lines with a very light non-staining watercolour pigment - and then erases all the pencil work!

This means that she actually renders a full-sized painting twice.  But it is only in this manner that the pencil lines can be removed, which would otherwise distract from the enjoyment of the finished work.  In addition, the pencil's graphite can muddy the clarity and brilliance of the watercolour pigments, if not completely removed.

Ms Warren works hard for each and every client.  Every painting is unique, and presents its own technical difficulties.  She puts her soul (and often her tears) into every piece, to be certain that every piece of her work that leaves the studio is a masterpiece.  She would be pleased to discuss an original commission with you.
